3. Item Management

   The last File Explorer I used was great, but it missed great features like cloud connections or multiple tabs. It was called Cabinet, but was discontinued in later OS's and lead me to this application.

   • When adding an item to a clipboard to paste I always accidentally press the back button on my phone when I want to back out. I have confirm the check button twice when I want to cancel my action completely.

   • Now hard pressing on the item gives me a ton of options to either rename or more was truly a step up, but I also just want the 3 dot button pulldown beside the file independently.

   • Another feature I recommend adding would also being able to open that said file as a video or audio for example. Different type of file options even though the item extension says otherwise on what it is.

   • It also be nice to have a global view of what folders are in which views and how the items are being sorted like by dates or name. Also the option to globally change all folders to something would be nice instead of trying to find which ones aren't set to what you like it to be.

   We could expand more on this if needed, always open to adding more things. This was just something I found that bugged me personally.

4. Improvements...

   Good day,

   Thank you for a beautifully designed and functional file manager that works.

   Here are some suggestions for improvement:

   1. Ability/ option to open/ play supported file formats using inbuilt document viewer and music/ video player, without prompting to choose another installed app. Currently, if we choose "always" during the prompt, it is applied system-wide and we don't want that.

   We would prefer using a dedicated app for each file type as default app when opening/ viewing files from another source, but when accessing a file from within your app, we would like to have an 'option' to set Solid Explorer to automatically open any supported file format when a file is accessed from within the app.

   1. Two additional categories under "Collections" - APKs and Archives.

   2. Ability to view hidden folders - not just those hidden using the app.

   3. A filter for the "Downloads" folder that can filter and show only files that are classified as images, videos, documents, APKs, archives, others, etc. In fact, such a filter can be made available for all folders.

   4. Recycle bin feature

   SE Stream functionality doesn't cast from video files on the internet. Apps such as Google Photos or VLC can actually run video files on a server

11. Paste usb

    There seems to lack a function to transfer files from my phone to my USB-otg. When I click the back button, it removes the cut/copy function. I could using my stock file manager to transfer files but not solid explorer.

12. Support "ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE" to allow other apps to access remote directories through Solid Explorer

    Currently there is a lack of applications that both implement and use Android Lollipop's document tree API because of the lack of apps that support document trees. The only way to fix this problem is by fixing the current lack of document trees in cloud service provider apps and file managers.

    Document trees allow a user to give an app access to a folder through the DocumentProvider APIs. The app can take ownership of the folder and do operations (create files and directories, read and write files, list files in directories). The operations are handled by the target app; for Solid Explorer this would allow other apps to access storages inside of Solid Explorer without leaking sensitive information about the storages.

    Interoperability with fingerprint and password protected storages:

    In the case where a storage is password protected, Solid Explorer should spawn the same dialog thats visible in the app when selecting a storage, and the storage should remain unlocked for the app that is accessing it (and only that app, essentially sessions for specific apps).

    Eventually, once document trees gain more support, more and more apps will utilize them. Searching through Github issues reveals that a majority of apps that are requested to add support for document trees end up not implementing it because of the lack of cloud storage providers to test their code with.

15. Extract and a compression location choice

    Please add an option to select exact location for extracting or compressing a archive like .zip or .rar.

    Additionally, please check for existing archives having a password or not. If a password is there, please prompt the user with proper messaging and notifications so they can correct their action with a proper password to extract. Without specific messaging, you forget sometimes am archive had a password and think that it's a corrupt file, rather than simply needing a correct password.

16. Customizable app shortcuts

    The new app shortcuts are really great, but with such an complex app it would be nice if they would be customizable:

    1. Wouldn't it be nice to have an option to switch between Storage, Bookmarks and Collections for the shortcuts? (if possible)

    2. Wouldn't it be nice to have an option to show the first 4 or 5 items with the given order instead of dynamically? (if possible)

    3. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to manually set the shortcuts, mixed from Storage, Bookmarks and Collections? (if possible)

18. A few "Unable to delete the file" errors blocks massive move operation

    While attempting to move thousands of files from internal storage to an SD card, Solid Explorer halts and gives up when it encounters files that cannot be deleted from internal storage after they're copied over. SE cancels the entire move and posts an error. It would be far better If SE could offer to continue when a delete fails. Copying 100% of the files to the e SD card with an estimated 2% not deleted from internal storage is much better than just giving up.
