    Starbucks mainly operates company-owned stores, which means the company itself owns and runs most locations worldwide. Unlike typical franchises, you can’t just buy a Starbucks franchise license as an individual.

    That said, Starbucks does use licensed stores in certain places—like airports, hospitals, universities, and some international markets. These are run by partner companies, but Starbucks still controls branding, menu standards, and quality.
