I was actually playing https://bitlifesmodapk.com/ when my LAN connection suddenly stopped working, no idea what triggered it. Started digging around and noticed the issue was with guest authentication on SMB.
After switching to password-protected sharing and restarting both devices, the connection worked perfectly. hope this helps someone
