How to move file between internal and external storage
I want to move file/directory from internal storage to external SD card and not able to figure out how to do it. Cant do it fine in ES File Explorer.Samsung Galaxy S4 rooted and on Lollypop.
Here is how I do it.
1. Goto internal storage, select file or folder and click Copy icon. Small checkmark appears on top to show that I have something in clipboard.
2. Now I do NOT see option to go to other storage folders, I can only go to the top of internal storage
3. If I somehow click on left top side of the screen and go to external storage, then checkmark disappears and there is no icon to Paste
Please advise on how to move/copy files between internal and external storage

Just created an account to chime in on how unintuitive it is to transfer files... I did it twice after trying for half an hour, and I still don't understand how to do it consistently. I am trying to transfer between local storage and sFTP.
You have made what should be a very simple task very complicated.

The swipe left and right is not intuitive for a new user who happens to also be an Android developer. Please add the option to switch from internal to external to root memory via small buttons on the top bar to the right of the name of the current memory location

Ok - the key here is to realise that you have two "panels" open at the same time
You can swipe left/right to switch between them.
In the first panel, go to the source directory and select the file/folders you want.. You can cut/copy etc.
Swipe over to the other panel and go to the destination. You should have an orange "paste" icon down the bottom right. You can use that to paste your selected files there.
Took a bit of figuring out, it definitely wasn't intuitive!

I just figured out how to both copy and move files between internal card and a plugged in card. It's NOT intuitive but does work.
To Move Files:
Goto folder & select files
click on scissors icon (cut)
swipe left & choose card & folder to paste to
click on round orange icon on bottom right (paste)
This will move the selected filesTo Copy Files:
Goto folder & select files
click on double folder icon just to right of scissors (copy)
swipe left & choose card & folder to paste to
click on round orange icon on bottom right (paste)
This will copy the selected files -

Same issue for me. Very unintuitive. That's what brought me here.

cannot imagine a simple function can be so "not obvious" in this paid app...
really have to swipe Left to switch to another storage device

I'm also trying to move a single pdf file from my S7 internal storage to the sd card. It seemed to be working by the drag and drop method, When the 'copy to-move to' screen came up, I selected the move option. New screen now: "Need to grant sd card access to Solid Explorer. Make sure you're in root of this storage". I granted. New screen showing contents of the directory I'm trying to move the file from but no other devices.to select. This should be so simple but I've been around this loop a half dozen times now but can't get it done. Are any of the tech gurus monitoring this forum?

Just rotate your phone ... on one screen open internal storage and in other open sd card .... select files and paste it to another or even you can use drag and drop method

OP: "I think it's the same issue with me. I cannot move downloaded files from my "internal/Downloads" folder to a folder I created on the SD Card. Says access denied."
EDIT: I had to close chrome first. Then I could cut/paste the downloaded files to the SD card. I guess there was a lock on the files.

Just bought this, but cannot copy files between devices. This is the most important fuction for a file system add-on under android.
Once you select file(s), if you swipe left to see a second device, "solid" explorer deletes to clipboard contents ...
Is that a bug or a feature ?

I've had to share, save to... Then select the folder to copy to. Then after the copy delete the original file. It's a pain, it should let me cut from internal storage and paste to sd storage

Have same problem!! This is basic functionality! I have used Root Explorer for years, and was excited about an updated file manager app like Solid Explorer given it's good reviews. However, I can't imagine this app getting past beta testing if it the user is unable to access sidebar after copying or cutting file/folder to clipboard.
Please advise!!
