Thunderbird Import Option Disabled – Is There a Fix?
Hi all,
I need to import my old emails stored in an MBOX file, but the import option is greyed out in Thunderbird. I installed ImportExportTools NG, but nothing happens. Restarting Thunderbird, reinstalling the add-on, and even trying different versions hasn’t worked. What’s going on?

If your Thunderbird ImportExportTools NG add-on isn’t working, start by ensuring you’ve installed the latest version compatible with your Thunderbird build. Sometimes, disabling and re-enabling the add-on can fix minor glitches. Also, check if Thunderbird is running in Troubleshoot Mode (Add-ons Disabled), which would block the extension — simply restart Thunderbird normally. If issues persist, try removing and reinstalling the add-on. Lastly, make sure your Thunderbird profile isn’t corrupted and that you have the right permissions to access the folders you’re trying to import or export.
